  40. disable com1 or com2 on the motherboard and install the modem as either
  41. comport 1 , irq 4 or comport 2, irq3 and it should work just fine. you
  42. can probably config it for comport 3 or 4 but only if it has a different
  43. irq then irq3 or irq4, if you use the standard irq's for com4 [which is
  44. irq3or4] you will have a port conflict and one or the other ports will not
  45. work. also certain video cards, especially S3 ones such as diamound,
  46. orchid fahr's take up com4 for video acceleration and that would be 
  47. the reason certain computers cannot use modems on com4.
